’s clinical background includes years as a neonatal and delivery room nurse, as well as a childbirth educator certified by Lamaze International. After assisting in the births of over 1,000 babies, she gained invaluable insights into the needs of pregnant women and their partners.

"When everything proceeds smoothly," Ms. Hammond notes, "the pregnancy is unremarkable and the couple attends either a hospital-based or private childbirth-preparation class during the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. Increasingly, however, it is either difficult or impossible for many women to attend these classes, be it for geographical, career, or health reasons."

In creating the "Having Your Baby" video, Ms. Hammond has succeeded in offering an alternative means of childbirth instruction for women who are unable to attend childbirth classes.
